Halton Regional Police Service – Mission Critical Applications and Infrastructure
With a population nearing 500,000 residents, and over 100,000 calls for service per year, the Halton Regional Police Service is constantly responding to the needs of the community. Whether is a crime in progress, a lost child, or traffic accident, having key information at the right time is essential to keeping officers and residents safe. To ensure officers have to the tools to effectively and efficiently do their jobs the Halton Police employ a number of technologies throughout the Service that are key to ensuring the right information is delivered to those who need it. From Mobile Workstations, to a state of the art records management system, the integration and co-ordination of information is managed and distributed through a number of mission critical applications and infrastructure. Come and learn how these applications are used to help keep Halton Region the safest community in Canada.

Adam Woods, Senior Systems Engineer, Halton Regional Police Service
Adam Woods has more than 12 years of experience in Information Technology working in both private and public sectors. As the Senior Systems Engineer with the Halton Regional Police Service, Adam is responsible for architecting and implementing all solutions related to Networking, Voice, Security, Server and Storage topologies as well as supervising the I.T. Infrastructure team. Prior to joining HRPS, he worked for Fairmont Raffles Hotels International as a network engineer implementing and auditing large networks across the globe. Adam is a graduate of Mohawk College from the Networking and Hardware program and holds a number of certificates related to networking and security.
Staff Sergeant Chris Lawson, Halton Regional Police Service
Staff Sergeant Chris Lawson joined the Halton Regional Police Service in July 1989 after receiving his degree from McMaster University and Chemical Technician Diploma from Sheridan College. Chris started his policing career in Oakville, where spent 13 years in a number of areas, including patrol and criminal investigations.
In January 2002 Chris was transferred to uniform patrol in Georgetown, and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in October of that year. In August 2005 Chris was promoted to Staff Sergeant and was placed in charge of a unique project team, consisting of IT professional, officers, and civilian members of the police service. Chris was given the task of exploiting and developing two recently implemented systems at the Service; a records management system and Computer Aided Dispatcher systems. The aim of the project team was to find efficiencies for front line staff by exploiting the technology found within the two systems, while being mindful of core business processes.
Chris returned to operational duties from 2008 to 2010, however returned in 2011 to manage the ongoing development of the records management system and computer aided dispatch system. Currently he and his team are implementing of enhancements, including a new version of the computer aided dispatch system, a new version of the records management system, along with providing a lead role in implementing new processes and bar coding for seized property.
