Pod Technical Lead

The Technical Lead for the Local Pod is a highly-motivated, results driven person who provides technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration of digital media projects for the local markets across Canada. This position works closely with the Business Analyst/Project Coordinator to provide technical solutions to business needs and implements those solutions within the context of best operational practice.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration of required tasks
• Applies significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service
• Reviews work of development team in conjunction with line managers
• Easily recognizes system deficiencies and implements effective architecture solutions
• Works with Business Analyst/Project Coordinator to elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, task and workflow analysis
• Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from the underlying true user needs
• Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and create best case solution balancing usability and performance needs
• Creates and executes development plan and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
• Communicates and enforces coding standards in conjunction with line managers
• Mentors junior developers to engage in best practices, so that they can develop efficient skills at gathering requirements and providing development estimates as well as to increase their consulting capacity
• Manages technical resources within a functional matrix
• Facilitates team and client meetings effectively
• Holds regular status meetings with resource teams
• Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion

Skills/Experience

• Post-secondary education in the field of computer science and/or 6+ years of equivalent work experience
• 4+ years leading development projects and teams
• 4+ years of experience as a technical consultant
• Demonstrated proficiency with various forms of web development, including in-depth knowledge of ASP.NET, C#, HTTP, REST, XML, XSLT, CSS3, HTML5, JavaScript, AJAX
• Fundamental knowledge of analytics instrumentation and SEO best practices
• Understanding of content and social media publishing platforms
• Understanding of web standards and best practices including responsive design
• Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Superb problem solving ability, with a knack for technical innovation
• Working knowledge of SQL and understanding of LINQ and WCF are assets
