McMaster Launches Program to Help Young Entrepreneurs: Open to post-secondary students and recent graduates across Ontario

Book smarts meet street smarts in McMaster University’s latest program intended to help young entrepreneurs start new businesses.

The Entrepreneurship @ McMaster STEM Program is intended to help young entrepreneurs prepare and launch a business based on innovations they have developed as part of their education. The program is open to Ontario students or recent graduates with two or more years of post-secondary education in science, technology, engineering or math.

“Many science and technology students develop great ideas during their education, but they are hesitant to make the leap from idea to start-up business. This program will guide participants through the steps of launching a technology based start-up company,” explains, Elsie Quaite-Randall, Executive Director of the McMaster Industry Liaison Office.

The year long program features a half-day workshop in May, a week-long, residential entrepreneurship course in July and monthly follow-up meetings from August to March. Participants will study common start-up issues such as marketing, business models, finance and team building.
