Learn creative coding with ZIM – CoderDojoHamilton & IEC of Hamilton!
This is a beginner to middle level workshop for local Hamilton students, ages 7 to 17.

Whether you are new to the world of ‘code’ or you want to ‘level-up’ your coding skills, this is your chance to create very cool things with JavaScript! Note: this workshop provides snacks and computers.

A parent/guardian must pick up their child at 12:30 pm.

This workshop experience offers local Hamilton students the opportunity to build weird, wild and way-cool projects in the Browser using JavaScript! ZIM, at https://zimjs.com, lets you create animations, games and other exciting projects, all while writing real code. JavaScript is one of the most important languages of the Web. Try it out in a fun and creative way. After the session, learners will be able to continue to explore to develop their coding skills and even show their masterpiece.

LIABILITY WAIVER

It is the policy of CoderDojo Hamilton that all participants be accompanied by an adult acting as their guardian. By participating in the event, students and guardians agree:

(1) CoderDojo Hamilton, (it’s mentors, partners and sponsors) are absolved from legal action resulting in personal injury.

(2) To follow all posted rules, including those outlined in the diversity and inclusiveness declaration below.

(3) To pay for any damages to the facility caused by the result of *their family’s negligent, reckless or willful actions.

I agree that I am under no pressure to sign this waiver of liability and have been given time to read and understand the terms.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSIVENESS

We welcome and advocate for the presence and contributions of all people regardless of their gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, culture, abilities, ethnic origin, marital status, nationality, race, religion, education, or socioeconomic status.

Prejudice, oppression, and discrimination are detrimental to the growth of a rich and vibrant community. CoderDojoHamilton is filled with diverse participants, and supporting the visibility of such diversity enhances the experiences of all community members. As such, we value inclusiveness and vigorously defend CoderDojoHamilton as a safe space for all participants.

We insist that everyone who uses the space—member or guest—remains mindful of, and takes responsibility for, their speech and behavior.

If you think of something that is missing from this statement, or a way we could improve it, please send us an email at hamilton@coderdojo.ca. If you experience marginalizing or silencing behavior which limits your full participation in any CoderDojo event, please talk to a volunteer in confidence (in person or via email).
