Mohawk SURGE: Tech Startup Bootcamp Session #3

This is a three part series targeted specifically to final year Mohawk College Engineering Technology students, presented by SURGE Mohawk’s Entrepreneurship Connection.

This registration is for Session #3 – Sales and Marketing (Facilitated by: Brad Elder)

With market validation behind you and a viable product ready to hatch, it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll market and commercialize your innovation. In this workshop, we’ll talk about the cornerstones of any marketing strategy, including customer segmentation, targeting and positioning. And then we’ll explore the different sales and marketing levers tech entrepreneurs can pull to build customer awareness and product adoption.

Start-up tech ventures often go to market on a shoe-string budget, which puts a premium on “high return” sales and marketing investments. We’ll discuss a variety of online and offline options that can comprise your “marketing mix”, including Personal Selling, Public Relations and Content Marketing, and how to get the most out of your precious marketing budget!

Facilitator Brad Elder is a Marketing Professor at Mohawk College who has held marketing and business development roles with start-ups in the technology and retail sectors. He helped enterprise software maker Workbrain grow into a market leader from its early days through its IPO on the TSX and beyond.
