McMaster Children & Youth University hosts free educational events to spark the curiosity of students and empower them as engaged, educated citizens.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
McMaster Children and Youth University (MCYU) provides monthly Saturday-morning lectures aimed at students between ages 7 to 14. In addition, our program also develops and delivers educational workshops in the community. This position will be focused implementing promotional strategies based on the recommendations of the advisory team and the communication coordinator. The candidate should be familiar with various strategies for developing effective websites. In particular we are interested in utilizing word press to manage a dynamic and highly interactive website. Therefore familiarity with this software is essential. The candidate will be expected to convert ideas into code in a timely fashion. This position will require approximately 12-17 hrs/ week of time. The incumbent is expected to attend weekly meetings on-campus, be in contact with team members by phone and email. It is important the candidate be able to work independently, solve technical challenges, effectively manage their own productivity and have excellent communication skills. They must also be able to work well in a team environment and be able effectively communicate their expertise to a multidisciplinary team.
How the student will be mentored/supervised:
Mentorship from other team members and the supervisor will be provided. This will require on-site meetings at the McMaster University campus for 1-2 hrs per week. The incumbent is expected to be able to learn on an independent basis and contribute to the changing needs of the team.
Description of employability skills directly addressed in job:
The candidate should be a motivated, independent worker with experience in web design. Knowledge of Word Press is essential. Demonstrated experience developing word-press based web sites is a definite asset, especially if the target of web development experience is youth and families. Experience with graphic software is an asset. Strong independent work ethic required.

Students will be required to take WHIMIS-office, fire safety, ergonomics will be required.
